Grandma's Original Recipe

Below are the cooking instructions we suggest for perfectly preparing our delicious pierogies. Since our pierogies will arrive frozen, we strongly suggest you keep them frozen until you are ready to prepare them.

  1. Fill a large pot with water. (A tablespoon of salt is optional, but suggested)
  2. Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat.
  3. Place FROZEN pierogies into the boiling water.
  4. Stir gently so that pierogies do not sink and stick to the bottom of the pot while waiting for water to return to a boil.
  5. When water returns to a boil, cover and check in 5 minutes. The pierogies should float to the top.
  6. Turn heat down and let simmer apporoximately 3 - 4 minutes longer. You will notice the pierogies "plump out". When this happens they are done cooking.

In the meantime, you can begin frying onion (slices, or chunks as you prefer) in butter.

Once the pierogies are cooked this way, any leftovers can be reheated in the microwave oven or in a skillet with a bit of butter added.

Enjoy!
